Window Poem
Through my car window,
straight out the drivers side,
I see a silent and foggy field.
Through the windshield and beyond, I see the softball field,
abandoned, awaiting its players.
Today feels different.
Today feels like a new page.
My thoughts are brighter, and happier.
Sometimes I can feel myself telling my children how beautiful this place was,
and what it meant to me.
The October sun peeks out over the hospital
and spills light into the field.
Sometimes, when I look out into the field,
I can see myself walking in the silent field with someone I still love
straight out the drivers side,
I see a silent and foggy field.
